Greenway revenue cycle management: Meet Susan Kohler

Amid the “great resignation,” losing even one person can put a tremendous strain on a healthcare practice. When providers don’t submit claims on time, there’s lost revenue, which translates to lost paychecks … resulting in a vicious cycle.

Meet our Senior Vice President of Revenue Services

It’s our pleasure to introduce Susan Kohler, Senior Vice President of Revenue Services.

When Susan joined Greenway as Chief Compliance Officer in 2018, she brought more than 10 years of compliance experience, as well as 15 years of healthcare operations experience. She also served in the U.S. Navy Reserve and U.S. Army Reserve Nurse Corps.

Susan understands the challenge practices face in generating revenue as claims mount and pressure rises. Her goal is to expand the scope of GRS, employ automation to take care of repetitive tasks, and help clients tackle staffing shortages.

Looking ahead the future of revenue cycle management, here are three tips from Susan to keep in mind:

  1. Hiring has become a major challenge for clients, with ramifications that may be long-term. For this reason, it’s important to have a billing partner that will stay on top of claims. All too often, a practice doesn’t experience the significance of this challenge until claims begin to accumulate.
  2. GRS offers a select service that can handle any part of the core revenue cycle process for submitting, managing, or posting payments, in case the practice itself cannot. Our team can help practices achieve critical wins across the spectrum of revenue cycle management.
  3. Automation has numerous applications in revenue cycle management. It may be, for example, that a bot can apply unused credits automatically. Because we understand where customized processes exist, we can activate automation to manage repetitive tasks.
